Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Be A Part Of The Conversation.

Welcome to our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) webpage!

This page is designed to tell you about our DEI practices, update you on efforts to support change, and provide resources and insight to help you stay informed about this global conversation. We hope you find insight and inspiration!

DEI is part of our strategic plan. The DEI Council was formed in May 2020 and is responsible for developing the structure of DEI at the Credit Union and crafting its direction, which includes having dialogue with CEO Laura Campbell and members of executive management.

Our DEI Council helps to articulate our DEI mission, formalize policies and procedures and develop programs and activities. We are a member of the CU DEI Collective, an expanding national group of organizations and service providers within the Credit Union Movement devoted to furthering DEI.

Our Commitment.

Our commitment to our members, staff and the communities we serve is to be a part of positive change. To be held accountable, with actions, not words.

Our Resources.
These are articles and resources that we found informative. They will be refreshed regularly, so bookmark this page for future reference.

Opportunities To Learn & Serve:

Every day we have the opportunity to learn and serve others.

Celebrate Diversity

  1. Commit to boosting your own cultural competency.
    • Interact with someone you don’t usually engage with from a different culture or background to gain a better understanding and improve communication.
    • Educate yourself
  2. Actively seek out new perspectives and ideas.
    • Create a space where different ideas and perspectives are valued.
  3. Treat others the way they want to be treated (Platinum Rule)
    • Observe diverse traditions, celebrations, holidays, etc., from different cultures
  4. Contribute to the cultural diversity of your workplace.
    • Work to build a better understanding of others.
    • Work to get to know your colleagues on a personal level to find common ground and also appreciate cultural difference.
  5. Promote an inclusive and welcoming work environment.

Diversity Awareness

What Do We Mean By Diversity, Equity and Inclusion?

Diversity: This is not just about physical differences. It is fundamentally about engaging with and appreciating people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, attitudes, and thoughts. About seeing the possibilities and acting on these.

EquityEquity is making sure people have adequate opportunity to compete in life without facing issues that do not allow accessibility to those opportunities. It should not be confused with equality.

Inclusion:  Simply having a seat at the table is not inclusion. Having a presence with a feeling of belonging is inclusion.
